According to the research done by Amy Cuddy, it is possible to fake it until you make it and it starts with your POSTURE! When people were put into a powerful stance, with their head up and a proud chest for two minutes there was a drastic change in both hormones, testosterone and cortisol. When people were put in a powerless posture hunched over with their chest caved in, and arms across the body for two minutes, both hormones did the exact opposite from the powerful posture test.
With these positive results Amy suggested that to become assertive, confident, and comfortable; “don’t just fake it until you make it, fake it until you become it.” When it comes to posture and what we present to the world it’s important to remember that, “Our bodies change our minds...and our minds change our behavior...and our behavior changes our outcomes.” Healthy posture is not just important for the physical body, it’s important to the mind as well. So with this new information be mindful of your posture and what kind of person you want to be seen as. Take two minutes every day and stand in your power stance.
