This HOT topic comes up with clients who are in pain and want to be PAIN FREE long term.
In discussing this topic there are a few things to remember:
1. A diagnosis is not a prognosis.
If you do not make any changes then most likely things will continue and maybe even progress but you have the option to change your body for the better. You have the option to support and balance your body and if given half a chance often times your body will heal itself. A diagnosis is a "snap shot" of your body RIGHT NOW not the future and the future can be influenced by your decisions.
When you've been in pain you want answers. What is wrong with me? If you received a diagnosis don't stop there!!! The diagnosis gives you information not a solution.
Why am I in pain? You heard it is because you have ...____________. Then ask "WHY do I have _________"? By looking deeper than a diagnosis and asking the question WHY you get to the root cause of your problems and THEN you can begin to address the "root" issue for a long term solution.
Pain pills, creams, ibuprofen, icy hot all relieve chronic symptoms (pain) temporarily. A treatment is an therapy or product where you receive or apply an application to your body that provides you with short term relief. Often times a treatment is applied to the symptom rather than addressing the root cause of the symptom. This is why the pain returns. Without the root of the symptom being accessed the symptom is easily re-triggered by a stimulus that brings the body back out of balance and into a familiar pattern of dysfunction and pain. This pattern has developed over time as a result of an original imbalance.
A cure is a long term solution. A cure comes from identifying and rebalancing to the fullest level the original imbalance in the body. Often times in supporting the body in an effective way at the original site/issue the body will pick up steam and cure itself.
Most people say they want a cure. Ask yourself "is this a treatment or a cure'? Want to talk about this more? Are your needs being met? Come in and I can help you make sure your efforts are matching what you really want or feel free to ask questions/leave comments below.
